You’d think that I have more time and energy to get ready for a date night since I work from home, right? Wrong.

Here’s my lazy girl makeup routine for a casual date night that gets you out the door in 15 minutes. ✨

Check out my Reel of TikTok for a quick recap on my lazy girl makeup or read on.

When I finish work around 5-6pm, I usually need time to switch off and reset. If it’s date night, I have about 30 minutes maximum to jump in the shower and do my makeup and hair.

So when it comes to makeup, I have a realistic approach. It needs to:

  • Look natural and highlight my own features;
  • Not be overly complicated with tons of different products;
  • Have products without clunky packaging (good for travelling) &
  • Be light and kind to my skin.

Makeup essentials shouldn’t cost a lot, but I’m willing to invest in a small amount of good products that I know I’ll use almost every day.

Full disclosure, I don’t really follow any rules when it comes to makeup. I also don’t use any fancy tools or brushes!

Current makeup essentials

The current products I’ve been using on rotation are pretty straightforward and I bought all of them from Mecca.

Here’s a quick breakdown from left to right. They’re all my own opinions so you’ll need to try them for yourself.

Ilia True Skin Serum Foundation (Bowen SF4): It’s super light with good coverage to give me that even skin tone. I find that this gives my face a smooth and dewy look. PSA – I use SPF 50 sunscreen beforehand, because this foundation doesn’t have any sun protection.

Clinique Chubby Stick Moisturizing Lip Colour Balm (Heaping Hazelnut): I love how this lip balm glides on smoothly. It gives off a little gloss but still looks natural with a hint of colour.

Kosas Air Brow Clear Lifting Treatment Gel: I switch up my other makeup essentials now and then, but this brow gel has a permanent place in my routine. I use it almost every single day to shape my eyebrows.

Mecca Max Off Duty Blush Stick (Moody): This was my first Mecca Max purchase and I’m impressed! I use this blush stick for quick contouring and it blends in beautifully with a brush. I’m actually excited to try more of their branded products…

Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara: I like to buy the travel-sized mascaras because I don’t use them too often, and they tend to dry up fast. This one is pretty good and does the job, but I can’t rave on about it.

Some oldies but goodies

There are also some super old makeup products that I use, because they still do the job, including the La Prairie Skin Caviar Concealer Foundation in Honey Beige. I bought it a long time ago at the airport, and if you see the price, you’ll understand why I’m using every last drop of it. 😱

I also use this ridiculously old ‘Big Beautiful Eyes’ kit by Benefit Cosmetics. It’s so old that they don’t even sell it anymore!

The dark brown eyeshadow is good for drawing subtle winged tips when I don’t want a strong eyeliner look, and that brown shimmer just brings it all together.

If you have any good ‘lazy girl’ makeup products, let me know! I’m always looking to try new things.
